New Town | December 7, 2025
The much-awaited art fair and festival, Art Haat by Arts Acre, started in New Town.

- Lifestyle & accessories: handcrafted earrings, jewellery, and indoor plants for home décor.
- Food corner: authentic Bengali sweets and snacks.
Spotlight on Amitabh Sengupta’s Patachitra Collection
The exhibition of Bengal Patachitra paintings from Amitabh Sengupta’s collection is one of Art Haat 2025‘s main attractions.
His carefully chosen pieces highlight Bengal’s renowned narrative scroll tradition, which combines visual rhythm, folklore, and storytelling.
This year’s festival gains depth and cultural context from Sengupta‘s longstanding involvement with folk art traditions.

Inauguration Graced by Eminent Guests
In the presence of Shri Jawhar Sircar, Smt Moon Moon Sen, Smt Priti Patel, and Shri Amitabh Sengupta, the festival began on December 5 at 5 pm.
The event, which was organized by the ArtsAcre Foundation with assistance from Emami CSR, kicks off a month of artistic exhibitions, performances, and public interaction.

Katayun Saklat’s ‘Nonsense Art’ Brings Playful Imagination to Canvas
The whimsical worlds of Edward Lear’s poetry and Sukumar Ray’s absurd rhymes serve as the inspiration for artist Katayun Saklat‘s series.
Her pieces combine humor, fantastical imagery, and lighthearted storytelling, reflecting a tradition in which art celebrates joy, spontaneity, and introspection rather than striving for seriousness.
